Meet Alessandra

BA (Psych), MPsych (Clin & Community Italy), PhD, MAPS

Alessandra Raudino has completed a Master in Clinical and Community Psychology in Italy and a PhD in Developmental Psychology in the UK.

Throughout her career, Alessandra has worked in private practice, outpatient hospital clinics, psychiatric inpatient clinics and university settings. In addition to practicing as a therapist, Alessandra has had an active career as a researcher in academia and government. Her research was focused on anxiety and parenting styles, conduct problems, attachment and schizophrenia epidemiology.

Alessandra is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and is registered with the Australian Health and Regulation Agency and the Italian Psychology Board. She is member of the ANZAED (Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders), ACFEB (The Australian Centre for Eating Behaviour), and the ASPR (Australian Society for Psychiatric Research).

In her work with individuals, Alessandra offers both short-term and longer-term therapy, tailored with a personalised approach, having trained in both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural traditions, including:

  • CBT-E
  • CBT
  • Motivational Interview
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD
  • Psycho-dynamic therapy
  • Gottman Relationship Counselling

Areas of particular focus for Alessandra are complex grief and depression, adjustment disorders and eating disorders. Helping people to go through very stressful situations requiring change, such as loss of a job, relationship break-up and grief, and finding ways to see their lives from new and creative perspectives.

In her work with couples, Alessandra blends attachment theory with Gottman therapy and more traditional Behavioural Framework and Emotional Focused Therapy, helping couples to understand the origin of their conflict as an opportunity to grow and develop, and learn how to communicate more effectively to open possibilities for both partners.

Alessandra brings warmth, support, insight and dedication to her work with clients. Against a strong academic and intellectual background, she sees her greatest strength as an ability to relate well with people and understand their needs. She is motivated by a deep sense of compassion and a commitment to helping others.
